Jonah discovered something the other night. He discovered that he loved to read Dick and Jane books. We heard him laughing in his room at 9:30 p.m.. I went upstairs to remind him it was bedtime. He was on page 78 of Dick and Jane. He was reading, comprehending, and laughing that Puff, the cat, had climbed the tree.
He amazes me.
The next day Jonah asked if he could read Dick and Jane to Lydia while they were drinking hot chocolate.

Jonah,
Bring your Dick and Jane book to Canton next week and we'll have more hot chocolate! We're proud of you!
Soo sweet! That is great he is reading so well! wow!
Well, his greatfather would say he has inherited his genes.
He is smart, just like you were with "The Cat in the Hat."
Do you remember?
I would love to hear him read to me. How about a phone call.
But not for the next three days. I am having a procedure done and will not be available.
I love you all.
Oh Jonah, I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes. You are a remarkable, amazing young boy -- you're not a little boy anymore.

Isn't it cool when they discover the joy of reading? Emily has always loved books, but it has just been recently that Elena has discovered the fun of a good read! She's been in bed for 90 minutes and is still not sleeping. She is still reading...I can hear her....and I've told her "time for sleep" at least 4 times. I think she is sitting in the hallway outside her room because I just took her lamp away. Stinker.
hey there. what a great milestone. so happy for all of you!!
Go Jonah!!
What an adorable picture...love it!
