My running partner, Carrie, and I had a great 12 mile run yesterday in preparation for the mini-marathon that takes place next Saturday. We ran conservatively and were still on track to beat our 13 mile goal next week. I returned home, visited with our new neighbors, did a little landscaping, and felt great.
Unfortunately, I ended up in the emergency room at 10:00 p.m. last night about six hours after we finished running. I'll spare you the details, but I have gastrointestinal bleeding and they're not sure what's causing it right now. The doctor mentioned the words "ulcer" and "gallbladder" but he also repeated, "I just don't know...I just don't know." They ran plenty of tests and most of them were okay. A specialist is supposed to call me today to schedule an appointment.
I asked about running the race on Saturday. He smiled and looked at me with a smirk. He recommended that I don't run.
So seven weeks of hard training, a great 12 mile run yesterday, and what could have been my fastest time yet-- it's a bummer.
It's so random, but as I put the pieces of the puzzle together with how I've felt after the long runs during the past couple of weeks, it's making some sense.
I'm weak today, but life goes on.... two little people are depending on me!

How frustrating! But I guess it's more important to get you better.
Keep us "posted" on what you learn...hahaha.
Random...I'm planning on stealing a lot of your decorating ideas in our next home in VA. Hope that flatters you...if not, then don't visit! :)
Traci, so sorry to hear the news. I hope they can get you patched up real soon!
Wow! I can't believe it! It's amazing you have been able to do those long runs, though, if this has been going on awhile. I hope they figure it out soon. I'll be praying for you!
I am so sorry to hear that! I will be praying for answers and a speedy recovery!

So, does this mean you're free to come take pictures of my pregnant belly & the kids this weekend?! :) Just kidding!!! ...BUT, our time with this belly is limited if you really want to experiment with belly shots of sorts.
Please keep us posted! I'm so sorry. Hope you are feeling better! You could do the IU mini in the fall.
