I had a perfect driving record until yesterday. I was driving the mini-van, Mike was reading in the front seat, and the kids were quiet in their car seats. We were travelling to eat dinner with many of Mike's parents' friends.
The policeman asked me if there was a reason I was speeding. I told him I was "zoning." I really was. He asked me how fast I thought I was travelling. I had no idea.
I have more of a lead foot since living in Michigan. Seventy-five miles an hour just feels normal! Yeah, that's not too good when the speed limit is 55.
Oops.
I have to pay $110 this holiday season.
Ouch.
You won't hear me bragging about my perfect driving record anymore.

Agh..I hate that feeling.
And it gets even worse when insurance finds out.
I was back in Ft. Wayne when I got my last ticket (I passed a truck on a country road at 2am and I didn't put on my signal - ridiculous. There was no one else on the road, but I happened to go by a cemetery where a cop was sitting right at the time I was passing. He was not nice about it either). Anyway, I had to pay $300 more each year for the next 3 years! So, my $100 ticket turned in to a $1000 expense.
Just thought I'd bring a little sunshine to your cloudy day.
Oh my.
I won't let you go that fast, when we drive back to Columbus. Ha.
Looks like I'll be getting socks for Christmas this year.......if I can put in a request, make them running socks.

Traci,
Congrats on keeping your perfect record for so long. I cannot remember having a perfect record. I have always been a lead foot and am notorious for "zoning." I HAVE to use cruise control. We pay more for insurance because of me. Those tickets stay on your record for a handful of years. I cried after my last ticket because I knew, like Troy stated, that it was going to cost me out the wazoo in the next several years. Welcome to the club.
I've been pulled over a few times in the past couple of years (oops...), one time just because a tail light was out, and every time I cry because I know that Troy is going to be SUPER mad that our insurance goes up. :) But all 3 times I've either been given a warning or the ticket hasn't gone on my record.
So all that to say, if it happens again, don't be afraid to cry. :)

I'm sorry, well, not really - welcome to the club.
