A conversation this morning:
Mike: That's a picture of a wheelbarrel, Jonah.
Traci: Did you just say wheelbarrel?
Mike: What?
Traci: Wheelbarrel. Did you just say wheelbarrel?
(With a look of confusion, Mike says nothing)
Traci: It's wheelbarrow...w-h-e-e-l-b-a-r-r-o-w.
Mike smirks. He pauses.
He clearly never knew that before.

Ummm...uhhh...gee...don't you know all the cool kids say "Wheelbarrel". Although I'm aware of the "other" spelling...I side with Mike in terms of pronounciation.
Glad I didn't marry an English teacher!
Traci, you're the one that not saying it right!! Where did you grow-up????? Lickin' County or something?? :)
I'm with Mike on this one!
Okay people, you had me doubting myself...it is wheelbarrOW. Webster says so!!!
You are all incorrect...I am extremely experienced with said apparatus and grew up where people who know how to use them, properly pronounce them "wheellbearas". No one who has written/read a Webster's has had the intimacy with one that results in them being called wheelbearas.
Brad (Melynie's Husband) Who was asked how he spelled it and responded correctly....
In defense of my favorite son-in-law......I also say wheelbarrel....hmmmm...my roots do lie deep in Magazine Holler....
Hi Honey,
Where I come from it is pronounced
"wheelbarrow."
And I don't know anything about "Magazine Holler."
Love, Grandma.
